homeward bound

I AM COMING HOME.

Yes.

My adventures abroad are coming to an all-too-swift end.

I don't really mind, though. I've missed my own bed, my room, my kitchen, my friends...yep. I'm glad to be coming home.

North Carolina.
No regrets.

Except...

I never woke up to watch the sun rise over the ocean's horizon line.

I can remedy this.

Tomorrow morning, I will try and wake up. It might not work.

It's been a long vacation.

The next time I plost a bog, I'll be home. It feels nice.

beachy keen

Have you ever been to the east coast?

That is where I am.

Right on the coastline.

Incredible.

To wake up and go to sleep to the gentle roaring of the sea,
and look out the huge window in the family room, and see the water,
right there.

A cloud that looks like cotton fluff floats across the horizon line,
and lazily makes a drifting stop, just above an almost indiscernable fishing boat.

Glorious.

All I want to do is read in the sand and let the ocean breeze lift my spirits.

Good thing that's what I get to do!

Love,
Caroline

Hotel.

Here I am. How odd to be blogging from an extremely public hotel lobby/commons area/dining place...but, as I said, here I am.

Yesterday?

Washington DC.

Our country's capital is quite a fantastic place. We went to the Smithsonian Museum of American History...and I fell in love. I mean, who doesn't want to see Dorothy's ruby slippers? Or...a long line of First Lady's inauguration gowns? (specific post dedicated to those dresses in the works...) It was wonderful, fantastic, monumentally exciting. Honest Abe, Mr. Jefferson, and plenty more. (Since I am not in the comfort of my own home [as mentioned previously] I don't have pictures up yet, BUT. I did take way too many, so I'll be posting them someday this month...)

So, hopefully I can keep updating about my adventures. If not, you'll just have to wait on PINS AND NEEDLES to find out what I'm up to...I can tell you're just dying to know, right? Right?!! Okay.

Carlie out.

the cutest six months ever

Almost six months old! How can that be?

January seems like a stone's throw back in time from today.

MERELY A STONE'S THROW.

How can July already be upon us?

Please feel free to enlighten me on that point.

a case of patriotics

I am American.
I am pleased to be.
I live in a little green suburb,
where people play baseball in the field across the street.
My backyard is a mountain's majesty,
and we have a flag in the front of our house.
I've been learning about George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams,
and Abraham Lincoln
for as long as I can remember.
I appreciate diversity,
and hope to speak more than English one day.
I want to travel,
but I'll still be from America.
I am grateful for the men who defend my country today,
and for those who defended its earliest freedoms.
September 11th will live forever in my memory.
Ground Zero stirs deep emotions in my heart.
I've visited the Statue of Liberty, Mt. Rushmore, and Washington D.C.
I am in love with those places.
Countless cross-country roadtrips with my family have only strengthened my love of this nation.
I enjoy the West Coast, and the East Coast.
I love the lakes of my home state.
I am American.
I am pleased to be.

can I fly?

Lovely.
