and this what I love

Having picnics at my neighborhood park with best friends.

Falling asleep in the grass, lounging in the sun on a giant quilt.

Driving around with my best friend/brother and taking crazy pictures.

Watching fun TV shows with the girls.

Making the right decision.

Talking and chatting until really late and then racing home to beat curfew.

Sleeping in until 10:30.

Looking out the window at the perfect weather.

Summer is lovely.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

and the week goes on.

I don't really know why this week has been so excellent.

it's the sun.

Only it rained yesterday, so that's probably not the only reason.

it's my family.

Yeah, definitely a huge part of it.

it's my best friends.

The other huge part.

Things are looking up?

It's perfect.

isn't he great?

And we're related.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

was beautiful.

It was one of those Sundays when everything you do
seems to be lovely.

I woke up,
got ready,
went to an uplifting church meeting,
talked to friend,
and came home.

Since I finished my homework yesterday,
today was truly a day of rest.

I watched my mom work in the kitchen
and imagined my life ten years from now.

I set the table,
and did the dishes,
and swept the floor without being asked.
I wanted to sweep the floor.
Just because.

I ate dinner with my eternal family;
spaghetti and meatballs
and my angel mother's homemade French bread.

I went outside and sat on the porch,
and then migrated to the grass.
I brought a book
and a crunchy apple.
The sun settled over me like a quilt knitted by the breeze.
I fell asleep to the sounds of children laughing
and bird descants.

I went on a walk
with a best friend
and talked about summer.
We made plans.
We laughed about boys.
The wind teased us,
tugging at our hair.

I came home.
My sweet home.
Family, warmth, and comfort
waited for me there.

was beautiful.

My friend posted this on her blog the other day, and I decided to grab it and share it with you. It is truly beautiful and inspiring, and perfect for a Sunday.

Also, I'm sorry it's cut off...the code wouldn't cooperate. To watch it full, just click to YouTube.

parenthetical overkill, weather worries, and fiery lullabies's the scoop.

You may have noticed (unless you live elsewhere) that the weather has not be very favorable as of late.

No, indeed.

(And this is the part where I interrupt my own post for a random and slightly worrisome thought--I talk about the weather...a lot. Isn't weather usually considered a last resort as far as conversation goes? Isn't it that kind of topic that goes hand in hand with visions of awkward chats and silences? Is it the sort of thing that equals awkwardness in face to face conversation, but doesn't apply in the blogosphere? I'm just sayin' I boring you all ((all six of you, anyways)) with my random, nonsensical, and oftentimes exaggerated sentences If so, please feel free to say something...but I'll probably still talk about the stormy skies...)

Anyways, back to the weather outside. It's a bit frightful, you might say. And I, unfortunately, do not have a fireplace in my abode.

BUT. That doesn't stop me.

This Christmas, my angel mother gave my father a DVD. But not just any DVD. We got plenty of movies, oh yes, but none quite so...useful, shall we say, as this particular DVD.

It's a virtual fireplace.

I know. Fantastic, right? Of course right. On Sunday night (after watching another excellent dvd - The Young Victoria ((post about this movie to come soon!!!)) ) I brought the virtual fireplace dvd into my room, plugged it in, watched the flames flicker across the walls, and listened to the virtual embers pop and smolder. Best lullaby I've ever encountered, and I swear the room was warmer, in spite of the frightful weather.

Post concluded.

it's over!

I need a balloon.
Also, the Up Movie Theme sheet music? Pure deliciousness.

My very first ever AP test. U.S. History. And I am terrified, as the title of this post so blatantly states. And so, without furthur ado, I leave this blog for study and sleep.

helping hands

Someone helped me today. She probably doesn't know it, but she truly helped me. We were standing outside, just laughing and talking, a big group of us, and she said something that came up in my later thoughts. It was just part of a passing conversation. It wasn't even meant to be deep or meaningful. It was a funny statement, actually, about some silliness on choir tour. But it stuck with me for some reason. Some important reason. It's not so much the event she was talking about; just something that went along with the event. And I remembered it. I took it to heart and learned from it. I know it was important. I feel better than I've felt in a long time.

Today I studied at my best friend's house with a group of people that I love.

Today I started a mental list of books I need to find and read.

Today my friend stopped by and we laughed and talked and watched funny videos for awhile.

Today I fell in love with the sun all over again.

Today I realized my incredible luck.

Today was good.
